LONDON -- Jason Puncheon put his penalty-taking credentials to rest by slotting one for Crystal Palace to beat Stoke 1-0 on Saturday for their first win in the English Premier League since Boxing Day. Jeff Bagwell Jersey . Puncheons humbling miss in the 2-0 loss to Tottenham last weekend set off a war of words with former Palace manager Neil Warnock, who suggested he would never have let Puncheon take a spot kick. The dispute lingered, and Warnock threatened legal action before Palace manager Tony Pulis cooled things down by supporting Puncheon for future penalties. When the chance came in the 51st minute, Puncheon, on loan from Southampton, took his time and drove the ball past Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland. The end of Palaces three-match winless run lifted it out of the relegation zone, and kept Stoke winless for a fifth successive league match. Mike Scott Astros Jersey . The Argentina international has agreed to a new contract with Barcelona that could give him $27 million for each season. Combined with other performance-backed incentives, the 26-year-old Messi is expected to make millions more every year. Barcelona did not release details of the deal, but called it "an agreement to adjust the terms in the contract binding Leo Messi to the club." Messi, who is expected to sign the restructured deal in the coming days, already has a contrract with the Spanish champions through the 2017-18 season, making a reported $22 million per season. Jon Singleton Jersey. He also has a buy-out clause of 250 million euros ($343 million). Messi is seven goals shy of becoming the Spanish leagues all-time leading scorer. He has scored 354 goals at Barcelona, including five straight seasons of at least 40. The four-time Ballon dOr winner has scored 28 league goals this season. PRATTVILLE, Ala. Desmond Trufant Jersey . - South Koreas Mi Jung Hur birdied four of the last eight holes Saturday for a 5-under 67 and a share of the lead with Paula Reto in the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic.Beginning of the round my putting wasnt that good, Hur said. But after turned the nine holes, my putting gets better and better, so I had a low score.Reto, the second-round leader, birdied three of the final five holes for a 70 to match Hur at 15-under 201 on Capitol Hills links-style Senator layout.I didnt start too well, said Reto, a former Purdue player from South Africa. I had a couple bogeys and a double there, but I kept patient and just focused on one shot at a time and it kind of helped me out toward the end of the round.Hur won her lone LPGA Tour title in 2009, and Reto is winless in her rookie season.Top-ranked Stacy Lewis and Kris Tamulis were tied for third at 11 under. Lewis, the 2012 winner in the event dropped from the schedule last year after losing its title sponsor, had a 70.For the way I played, the score ended up pretty good, said Lewis, the tour leader with three victories this year. I didnt play well. It was kind of a struggle all day and just had to work pretty hard to shoot what I did. But Im still within striking distance, still have a chance for tomorrow, which that was the goal going into the week.Tamulis shot 65, the best round of the day.I wasnt really trying to chase anybody, Tamulis said. Didnt have a great middle of my round yesterday, so I was just going out there. I had some really good numbers today and was able to just kind of go for it.Reto rebounded from her double bogey on the par-3 seventh with birdies on the next two holes.I wasnt kind of where I wanted to be with my mental and stuff, said Reto, who started playing golf at 16 in 2005 when she moved to Florida with her family So, I just took a couple seconds to myself just to rethink everything, just kind of stayed in there. They will play in the same group again Sunday.Im just going to focus on each shot and I will do my best for tomorrow, Hur said. Play with Paula will be fun, not much pressure. I mean, she made me so comfortable.Reto is in position to win after missing 11 cuts in 18 starts this year.It would be really cool. That would put the cherry on the cake, said Reto, coming off a ninth-place tie in Portland, Oregon. But Im not going to think about it. Im just going to have fun and stuff. LaRoy Reynolds Jersey . Norwich manager Alex Neil and Brentfords Scott Hogan have been named as Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month for September. Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys . Neils side won four out of five games last month, scoring at least two goals in every match, to climb into the automatic promotion places. Its recognition of how well the teams done over the last month, which is nice for everybody involved, said Neil. The scorelines in the games have been quite tight, but the gulf between ourselves and the opposition is probably more than the scorelines suggest. Norwich won at Wolves in their last outing Were now up to second, but disappointingly we didnt pick up the points we thought we deserved at Newcastle (4-3 defeat). TORONTO -- With their lead atop the American League East on shaky ground after a disappointing road trip, the Toronto Blue Jays wanted to set the tone early for a nine-game homestand with a strong effort against New York on Monday night. Bryce Harper Jersey . Adam Lind provided the power and rookie starter Marcus Stroman had the best start of his young career as the Blue Jays dumped the Yankees 8-3 at Rogers Centre. Stroman, making his fifth start for Toronto, allowed one earned run and three hits over a career-high eight innings. "Shoot, it was a fantastic job," said Blue Jays manager John Gibbons. "We needed that. We needed shutdown innings early on to give us a chance to get on the board. Pretty impressive." Toronto (43-35) opened the scoring with a single run in the first inning and Lind belted a three-run shot off New York starter Chase Whitley in the Blue Jays six-run second. That was more than enough offence for Stroman (4-2), who tied a career high with seven strikeouts. "I felt my change-up was a big pitch today," he said. "Even though I didnt use it much, when I did use it, it was pretty crucial. I was just down in the zone today. Me and (catcher Dioner Navarro) got on a pretty good roll." Stromans lone blemish was a solo shot by Mark Teixeira, who hit his 13th homer of the season in the fourth inning to put New York (39-36) on the board. The Yankees fell into third place with the loss, 2 1/2 games behind Toronto. The Baltimore Orioles remained in second place, 1 1/2 games back, after a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. Torontos offensive outburst was most welcome for a team that was coming off a disappointing 3-7 road trip and had been held to three runs or less in 11 of its last 16 games. The Blue Jays also had to make lineup adjustments with Jose Bautista out for at least a few days with a left hamstring strain and Brett Lawrie on the disabled list with a broken finger. Lind, who has been nursing a sore foot of late, helped fill the void by driving in four runs and scoring twice in the opener of the three-game set. "Lind is a big part of this offence," Gibbons said. "He kills right-handers." Edwin Encarnacion had three hits and Melky Cabrera had two hits and scored twice as Toronto outhit New York 13-6. Anthony Gose chipped in with a pair of hits and made an excellent running catch against the wall in right field in the sixth inning. "The defence behind me was unbelievable," Stroman said. "Eddie made two great plays, Gose with an unbelievable play. Stuff like that kind of picks you up and gives you much more confidence going into the next couple innings." Whitley (3-1), meanwhile, allowed eight earned runs, 11 hits and three walks while striking out a pair. "It seemed like when he made a mistake, they hit it hard and when he made a good pitch, they seemed to find a hole with it," said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. "It was the combination of that. It was a tough start for him." Toronto reliever Chad Jenkins relieved Stroman and gave up two runs over two-thirds of an inning. With two runners in scoring position, Aaron Loup got Brian Roberts to fly out to end the game. Notes: Announced attendance was 31,554 and the game took two hours 45 minutes to play. ... Whitleys earned-run average rose to 4.07 from 2.56 while Stromans fell to 4.25 from 5.14. ... Steve Tolleson replaced Francisco at third base in the seventh inning. ... Both Bautista and Lawrie were hurt Sunday in Cincinnati. Bautista said theres a chance he could play at some point in this series but Lawrie, from Langley, B.C., will likely be out for three to six weeks. ... Bautista has been named captain of the American League Home Run Derby team for the July 14 event during all-star week at Minnesotas Target Field. Colorados Troy Tulowitzki will captain the National League side. ... Toronto recalled Gose and fellow outfielder Kevin Pillar from triple-A Buffalo on Monday and optioned catcher Erik Kratz to the Bisons. ... Left-hander Mark Buehrle (10-4, 2.32) is scheduled to start Tuesday against New York right-hander David Phelps (3-4, 4.13). ... Following the series against the Yankees, the Blue Jays will continue their nine-game homestand with a four-game series against the White Sox. Toronto will get an off-day Monday before a two-game mini-series against the Milwaukee Brewers. ... Cabrera has had at least one hit in his last 20 games against the Yankees. All injured. These fighters suffered mostly knee injuries and all of these ailments are bad news for fight fans. Chris Weidman, Georges St. Pierre, and Tarec Saffiedine top the list and for St. Pierre, its the second time with this particular injury. This is the toughest sport on the planet. Tell me another sport where the practice claims as many injuries as the game itself. Honestly I have never worked with an athlete who can get back into training within two weeks of a fight. Ok, thats a lie, Ive had a few fighters get first round KOs. If the fight goes one round, the fighter is going to miss two weeks at least. The whole point of me writing about the training is to bring about a change in the fans perspective of what goes into a fight, for example the lead up is intense. As my seventh week goes in the books, I needed the support over at Elite Performance. I dont want to diet anymore and I dont want to push hard. 500 feet on the Jacobs ladder, five sets of five minute long foot touches on a tall box with a minute rest and speed skipping are all grinding on me.  Add that to the fact that Im only hitting a heavy bag or working with the Nexersys for striking, Im not sparring or rolling with anyone. MMA fighters are impressive for making it through a camp. So as Jeff Fisher gently encourages me to get through my bike sprints with 1100% effort, or go train somewhere else if I want to take it easy, I think about guys who train so hard they get injured. Sam Mills Jersey. The guys who dig down deep, do the physical conditioning, then go full throttle spar.  Then after all of that, go into a cage and fight for 15 to 25 minutes. As they compete, if the action slows because two great fighters find themselves in a ground game stalemate, the crowd boos. That infuriates me. Id love every fan to get to the seventh, eighth, ninth or any week of a training camp. Eat the food, drink the water, sweat, and put in the hours. Then grapple with even just an average level jujitsu player. Once you get pinned, and you grab on for dear life, think about how boring it is to be there. The game, and what people who understand MMA love is the chess match. Its the preparation that went into that moment when two amazing athletes find themselves in a tie. The training, the work, and the injuries are what make MMA an amazing sport. Go put your time in. Change your health, fitness and your view of whats really going on in that cage. If you have tried CrossFit, go spend some time kickboxing, or better, try jujitsu. There is no better workout on the planet. Week 7 is in the books and the lesson learned is really how tough this is on the body. Im not even competing. PHILADELPHIA -- Moments after the final horn sounded, the Twitter feed @didthesixerswin posted an update. Shane Lechler Jersey . For the 20th straight game, 140 characters werent needed, just two letters: No. In a city painfully familiar with sports futility, the Philadelphia 76ers have added another sorry chapter, this one for the record book. Mike Conley scored 19 points and Zach Randolph had 14 to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 103-77 win Saturday night, sending the 76ers to a franchise-tying 20th straight loss. The Sixers, who scored a season low in points, can set the team mark with a loss Monday night at Indiana. The Sixers also lost 20 straight games from Jan. 9, 1973-Feb. 11, 1973, in a 9-73 season. The NBA record for consecutive losses in a season is 26 set by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers. "We have to come out swinging," coach Brett Brown said. "Weve got to compete." Theyve absorbed their share of blows, and more may be coming: Over the next six games, the Sixers (15-51) play only one team with a losing record, the Knicks on Friday, and they are on a six-game winning streak. Michael Carter-Williams led the Sixers with 23 points and Thaddeus Young had 20. "This is not slit-your-wrist time. This is not even close to that," Brown said. "This is about building a program and understanding the short-term pain for a lot of long-term gain. Thats my vision. Thats how I approach it." As the NBA season tipped off, the over-under in Las Vegas for total wins for the 76ers this year was 16.5, the lowest of any team in the league. They stunned the league with a 3-0 start, including an opening-night win over the Miami Heat, and won four straight road games from Dec. 29-Jan. 4. Outside of those spurts, the Sixers have played down to their preseason projection as one of the NBAs worst. "Any win we have right now would be considered an upset," Brown said. "Thats the way its played out at this stage." The Sixers last won on Jan. 29 on former guard Evan Turners buzzer-beater at Boston. Theyve lost a team-record 16 straight home games, last winning at the Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 15. "I try to ignore the comments about us losing however many straight," Carter-Williams said. The 53-year-old Brown was part of three NBA title teams with San Antonio as an assistant and won another with the Spurs when he served in the basketball operations department in 1998-99. Brown is used to a winning program at San Antonio, so hes not familiar with starting from the bottom. But the Sixers realize its not an overnight process and gave him a four-year contract to turn things around. "Ive been asked by so many people, Why would you take the job and screw up your coaching percentage?" he said. "As if I care about that. I knew what I was getting in to." The free-falling Sixers are gaining fast on Milwaukee (13-53) for the worst record in the NBA. Unlike Friday nights loss against Indiana when they never led, the Sixers held an early edge against Memphis and played a competitive first half. The Grizzlies were coming off a 99-86 loss at Toronto on Friday and needed some time to warm up in Philly. Once they got going, they became just the latest team to stomp the Sixers. "Its scary because theyre looking to get a win and theyre going to do whatever it takes to get one," Conley said. Conley did his part to avert an upset, scoring nine points during Memphis 15-6 run to open the second half that stretched the lead to 18. He kept the lead rolling with a 3-pointer and a fast-break layup off a turnover for a 67-46 lead. The Grizzlies, winners of 12 of 16, had 13 players score and their 29-point lead in the fourth was their largest of the season. Even a bit of an off night was enough for Memphis to cruise: The Grizzlies made only 4 of 15 3-pointers, were outrebounded, and had 22 turnovers. Marc Gasol scored 11 points, Ed Davis had 11 rebounds, and the Grizzlies had 27 assists on 38 baskets. "Its a good rhythm, but its not where we want to be yet," Gasol said. "Its always on the good side. Its always better than losing, thats just for sure." Just ask the Sixers. NOTES: The 76ers sent F Arnett Moultrie, the 27th overall pick in the 2012 draft, to the D-League. He played only 12 games this season. "Hes a young player, hes a first-round draft pick, he needs to play," Brown said. Braxton Miller Jersey .1 Sam Stosur will meet Germanys second-ranked player Andrea Petkovic in the opening match of the Fed Cup World Group semifinal. C.J. Fiedorowicz Jersey . The Goldeyes (10-7) lost 4-1 to the Saltdogs (8-9) Sunday afternoon before 5,834 sizzling fans at Shaw Park. The loss drops Winnipegs record to 3-4 during this past weeks seven-game homestand. The Dallas Mavericks are bringing back Devin Harris in what could be a more prominent role for the point guard. Two people familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Saturday that Harris and the Mavericks have agreed on a new contract. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadnt announced the deal. The 31-year-old Harris played for Dallas on a one-year, $3 million deal last season, missing the first half of the year after off-season toe surgery. He originally had a three-year contract worth $9 million, but the deal was scuttled by the toe injury. The new deal is reportedly similar in value to last years three-year contract. The deal with Harris came two days after Dirk Nowitzki agreed to terms on a three-year, $30 million contract with a player option in the final season of the deal. The Mavericks struck both deals while still waiting for word from free agent Carmelo Anthony, who visited Dallas last week. If Anthony signs elsewhere, Dallas will be in the market forr a small forward to play alongside Nowitzki. Tom Savage Jersey. . Harris was the backup to Jose Calderon last season, but the Mavericks traded Calderon to the New York Knicks when they acquired Tyson Chandler the day before the draft. Dallas got Knicks point guard Raymond Felton in the deal, but hes coming off an unproductive year that included trouble off the court. In his first season back with Dallas after starting his career there, Harris averaged 7.9 points and 4.5 assists in 40 games. But he shot a career-low 38 per cent from the field, including just 31 per cent from 3-point range. Acquired by the Mavericks as the No. 5 overall pick in a draft-night trade in 2004, Harris is the highest draft choice for Dallas since owner Mark Cuban bought the team in 2000. Harris was on the first Dallas team to reach the NBA Finals in 2006 -- a six-game loss to Miami -- before going to New Jersey in a trade that brought Jason Kidd to the Mavericks in 2008. CALGARY - Bo Levi Mitchell used his legs to get things started and then relied on his arm to lead the Calgary Stampeders to a bounce-back victory. Paulinho Jersey . Mitchell ran for an eight-yard touchdown in the first quarter and then threw for three more TDs in the second as the Stamps cruised to a convincing 38-17 win over the expansion Ottawa Redblacks in Saturdays lone CFL game. "It felt good to get out there and put some points on the board," Mitchell said. "It should have been a lot more, 28 points in the first half and then some missed opportunities in the second half." After suffering his first loss as a starting quarterback in Calgarys 25-24 loss to the B.C. Lions on Aug. 1 at home, Mitchell rebounded to complete 26-of-36 passes for 289 yards against the Redblacks. "Bo played well," said Calgary coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "Im sure theres some throws that he wished he had back, but he played 60 minutes of good football and put some points on the board." Jeff Fuller, Marquay McDaniel and Jabari Arthur all caught TD passes for the Stamps (5-1), who moved into a tie with the Edmonton Eskimos atop the CFL West Division standings. "It was good to get going especially on offence," said McDaniel, who finished with nine catches for 117 yards. "We havent been consistent the last few weeks. That was our main focus. As a receiving corps, we feel like its on us to get this offence going." Rene Paredes chipped in with a three field goals, while Rob Maver kicked a single. Former Calgary quarterback Henry Burris threw a touchdown pass to Wallace Miles, while Chevron Walker had a rushing TD for the Redblacks (1-5). Ottawa kicker Brett Maher also had a field goal in the fourth quarter when the score was out of reach. "Im choosing to not consider ourselves like an expansion team," said Ottawa coach Rick Campbell. "I want to win. I think we have some pieces of the puzzle in place here to compete and win some games. Were going to do everything we can to play good guys and put them in the best position we can to have success." Burris, who went 20-for-29 for 281 yards, also threw a pair of interceptions in a losing cause. "Im just ready to start winning period," Burris said. "This would have been a big win especially on the road. Calgary gave us some opportunities. Winning teams take advantage of opportunities. We just found other ways to shoot ourselves in the foot and make it tough on ourselves." The Stamps started their second drive of the game with great field position at the Ottawa 41-yard line thanks to a 52-yard punt return by Jock Sanders. Six plays later, Paredes lined up to kick a 15-yard field goal, but Calgary executed a perfect trick play as Mitchell instead lined up under centre and took a quick snap before running for an eight-yard touchdown. "Its the kind of coaching staff we have," Mitchell said. "Theyre a go-get-it team. They definitely wanted to say, Hey were on our first drive, lets go get some momentum. The guys made some great blocks, got the hole open for me and we got in." Early in the second quarter, the Stamps extended their lead to 14-0 when Mitchell tossed a 17-yard TD strike to Fuller to cap off a quick four-play, 44-yard drive. The early onslaught continued as defensive back Jamar Wall picked off an errant pass by Burris at midfield to end Ottawas best first-half drive to that point. "Its always nice to have an interception," Wall said. "That was my first one this year. Im pretty excited. Hopefully theres more to come." Nine plays and 60 yards later, McDaniel caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to give Calgary a commanding 21-0 lead. The Redblacks earned a measure of redemption when Jasper Simmons intercepted a pass by Mitchell and ran it back 29 yards deep into Calgary territory. On the next play, Calgary linebacker Keon Raymond was penalized for pass interference on Ottawa receiver Carlton Mitchell as well as objectionable conduct to give Ottawa the ball on the one-yard line. Walker promptly plunged across the goal line to get the Redblacks on the scoreboard. The Stamps answered right back as Anthony Parker returned the kickoff 44 yards before Mitchell engineered a five-play, 51-yard drive that culminated with a 17-yard TD pass to Arthur. The offensive woes for the Redblacks continued early in the third quarter as Burris was picked off by Calgary defensive back Joshua Bell, who ran it back 43 yards to the Ottawa 12-yard line. This time, the Stamps were unable to find the end zone and had to settle for a 12-yard field goal by Paredes. Late in the third quarter, Burris capped off an eight-play, 75-yard drive by tossing a 32-yard touchdown pass to Miles before Maver booted a 53-yard punt single to put Calgary up 32-14. After Maher kicked a 32-yard field goal for Ottawa early in the fourth quarter, Paredes responded by booting field goals from 40 and 30 yards out respectively to round out the scoring. Notes: Calgarys Martell Mallett left the game late in the second quarter with a leg muscle injury and didnt return. The Stamps are already without the services of fellow running backs Jon Cornish and Matt Walker, who are both out with concussions. … Since the start of the 2008 campaign, Calgary has compiled a record of 26-6-1 the week after a loss. The Stamps have never lost more than two games in a row with John Hufnagel serving as coach and general manager. … Calgary defensive lineman Charleston Hughes extended his streak of consecutive games with a sack to six. … The announced attendance at McMahon Stadium was 28,391 although it appeared as though considerably fewer fans were in the stands. Andre Gomes Jersey . While hell be dialed in to that tournament on a course he loves, you can forgive him if his eyes glance down the calendar just a bit, towards April. Jordi Alba Jersey . They actually finished with a better record in ‘07 than they did in ‘06 but only marginally, going from 61 victories to 66.MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Grizzlies think they may have finally turned the corner in a frustrating, injury-plagued season. They certainly turned around their recent fourth-quarter play Saturday night in a 120-99 win over the Denver Nuggets. "Teams know that were going to play hard and, regardless of our record, were going to be a tough out," said guard Mike Conley, who had 14 points. "Weve always been a thorn in the side of a lot of teams. Hopefully, were starting to get back to that." Zach Randolph scored 20 points and the Grizzlies got 62 points from their bench as six Memphis players finished in double figures. Ed Davis led the reserves with 17 points, hitting 6 of 8 shots, while Jerryd Bayless had 15 points. James Johnson matched Conley with 14 points, and Mike Miller added 11, connecting on 3 of 5 outside the arc. Memphis sent the Nuggets to their sixth straight loss -- the longest Denver losing streak since a six-game skid in December, 2004. "There are a lot of things that we can take away from this game, and the five games before that," said Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler, who finished with 19 points. "If we want to win, we have to play harder, thats what is all comes down to." The 120 points were a season high for Memphis, and only two less than the most the Nuggets have allowed in a game this season. The teams had played six straight games where the winning margin was single digits, and Saturdays win was the most lopsided Grizzlies victory in the series history. Ty Lawson led the Nuggets with 20 points, while Jordan Hamilton scored 12. "It was a thorough ripping all the way through," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said, later adding: "After we had a pretty decent first half, we gave up 30 points in the third quarter and 35 pointts in the fourth quarter. Ivan Rakitic Jersey. You are not going to win any games, especially on the road, against any team giving up numbers like that." The Grizzlies led by seven early in the final period before a 21-5 burst that included 3-pointers by Conley, Miller and Bayless gave them a 23-point lead. "We turned defence into offence," Conley said. "That was the biggest thing. We got out into transition, and we got easy 3s, pull up 3s. We had drive-and-kick layups and dunks." Memphis, which is playing without centre Marc Gasol and reserve wingman Quincy Pondexter due to injuries, trailed 56-55 at halftime. But the Nuggets began showing the fatigue of playing on the second night of a back-to-back in the third. Denver committed a handful of turnovers in the period, while connecting on 6 of 19 shots from the field. Meanwhile, Randolph was working inside to help Memphis build its first double-digit lead of the night. He scored 10 points in the third, leading Memphis to an 85-72 advantage entering the fourth. Memphis has won three of its last four. "At one point, we were struggling badly," Davis said. "I dont know how many we lost in a row, but the only thing we could do was win, and thats what we have to do the rest of the season." NOTES: The game marked the return of Darrell Arthur to Memphis, but the Nuggets forward didnt play because of a right quadriceps contusion. Arthur, who spent his first five seasons in Memphis, was traded in the off-season for C Kosta Koufos. ... The Nuggets, who lost Friday night to the New Orleans Pelicans, are now 1-5 in the second game of back-to-backs. ... Kenneth Faried returned to action after missing two games with a sprained left ankle. He played 13 minutes, finishing with three points and two rebounds. China NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2020 Cheap NFL Jerseys Discount NFL Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Discount NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo ' ' '
ST. Brandon Shell Jersey . LOUIS -- Danny Duffy became the latest pitcher to shut down the St. Louis Cardinals. Duffy worked six innings of one-hit ball coming off a pair of poor outings and Alex Gordon homered to start a breakout three-run seventh for the Kansas City Royals in a 6-0 victory over the suddenly punchless defending NL champs on Monday night. "I told him, You didnt throw a great game, you pitched a great game," manager Ned Yost said. "He was just right on top of his game." The Royals had just two singles off Shelby Miller (6-5) in a game that had been scoreless before they opened the seventh with four straight hits. Gordons fifth homer ended a 15-inning scoreless drought and Mike Moustakas capped the rally with a two-run double. "I felt good early on," Miller said. "I felt like I just kind of gave the game away in the seventh. Its just frustrating." Matt Holliday had two singles and a walk for the Cardinals, who have been shut out in consecutive games at home and have single-digit hit totals the last four games. Theyre just 2-6 with one game to go on a nine-game home stand. "Its a long season. Youre going to have those times," said Yadier Molina, who is 2 for 21 during the home stand. "We know were good hitters." Between Hollidays single with two outs in the first and his single leading off the seventh, the Cardinals were 0 for 17 with a walk -- also by Holliday in the fourth. Coming off an 8-0 loss to San Francisco on Sunday, the Cardinals were shut out two straight times at home for the first time since 1992 against Pittsburgh, and by six or more runs at home in two straight games since dropping a doubleheader to the Reds in 1937. "Weve had lots of meetings, weve had the conversations we needed to have," manager Mike Matheny said. "What were doing right now isnt going to work and they know that. We all do." Duffy (3-5) struck out five and walked one, rebounding from consecutive losses in which he surrendered 10 earned runs in 10 innings. He has a one-hit start over six or more innings each of the last three seasons. "Physically, I felt really good," Duffy said. "I still didnt have as much behind the ball as I normally do, but I felt fine just like last time." Rare backing from the offence made everything feel a lot better. The Royals totalled three runs while Duffy was in the game his first five starts over 27 innings. "Sometimes its just the luck of the draw," Duffy said. "The guys swing the sticks really well." Three relievers completed a three-hitter. The Royals advanced one runner to second base before Gordon led off the seventh with his fifth homer, a drive over the Cardinals bullpen in right field. "It was awesome," Moustakas said. "It got a good pitch to hit and he crushed it and it kind of loosened us up in the dugout." Lorenzo Cain beat out an infield hit unsuccessfully challenged by the Cardinals and Miller threw his second wild pitch of the inning after a visit from pitching coach Derek Lilliquist, setting up Moustakas double. Kansas City added three in the eighth. Cardinals rookie centre fielder Randal Grichuk struck out three times and whiffed fielding the ball on the RBI single by Salvador Perez, allowing a second run to score. NOTES: Holliday has reached safely in all 29 home games. .. The Cardinals anticipate pitcher Lance Lynn, who underwent medical tests after tweaking his right knee Sunday, will make his next start. ... Cardinals pitching prospect Marco Gonzales, a first-round pick last year, and teammates from Double-A Springfield attended the game on a day off. ... The Royals claimed RHP Blake Wood on waivers from Cleveland and assigned him to Triple-A Omaha, making room on the 40-man roster by transferring RHP Luke Hochevar (elbow surgery) from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. Kansas City also purchased the contract of RHP Wilking Rodriguez, optioned RHP Louis Coleman to Omaha and designed LHP Justin Marks for assignment. ... PETERSBURG, Fla.TORONTO -- In the immediate moments after the Raptors 101-87 victory over Detroit on Wednesday, Toronto coach Dwane Casey sat down to watch the dying minutes of the Miami-Brooklyn game. Amir Johnson checked the result on his phone. With 20 games left on a thrilling season that sees Toronto poised for a playoff position for the first time in six years, the Raptors are excited, and thinking about little else. "Hell, yeah. Without a doubt, man," DeMar DeRozan said. "Thats why I work so hard, and it always bugged me going home early, and just sitting there doing nothing. It used to make me so hungry just watching." DeRozan poured in 25 points, while Johnson scored 20 and grabbed nine rebounds in a game that was no thriller but served its purpose -- one step closer to the teams second Atlantic Division title and its first playoff berth since 2008. The Nets, who edged Miami 96-95 on Wednesday, are three games behind Toronto for the division title. "Ive got a lot of friends that play in the playoffs and I had to hear all summer them talking about their experience in the playoffs. It always pushed me even further," DeRozan said. "You just want to get there. Not even for myself, just for this organization as well. It definitely feels good that were moving in the right direction now." Kyle Lowry had 19 points and six assists, while Jonas Valanciunas had 13 rebounds to go with eight points for the Raptors (36-27), whove won 10 of their last 13 games. The affair wasnt pretty. The Raptors coughed up double-digit leads a couple of times -- including an 18-point third-quarter advantage that the Pistons whittled down to just five -- in a game they could have put out of reach far earlier. The Raptors went into the fourth quarter with a narrow 74-69 lead in front of the 18,247 fans at the Air Canada Centre that braved the rare March snowstorm. They scored the first nine points of the fourth to go up by 14. A wide-open three by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with 8:23 to go cut the Raptors lead to nine points, but that was as close as the struggling Pistons would come. Brandon Jennings topped Detroit (25-40) with 24 points, while Andre Drummond had 16 points and nine rebounds and Greg Monroe had 13 points to go with 10 boards. Ugly or not, the Raptors were happy to tick off another win. "Absolutely. Im ready," Johnson said, when asked if hes thinking post-season. "Were going to win as many games as we possibly can going down the home stretch, collect these wins." Casey said hes happy his players are enjoying their success, but warns that theyve got to focus on themselves down the stretch. "It is fun. But weve got to take care of our business. We can watch (what other teams are doing), but if we dont take care of our business, its not worth crap," the coach said. Bryce Petty Jersey. "Im more concerned with what we do, and how were playing, . . .and losing leads, moreso than anything else. "I hope (the Raptors) are enjoying it but still understand how hard it is, getting there first, and then after you get there, its even harder." DeRozan, whos in his fifth season in Toronto thus has never stepped on the court for a playoff game, said he has always forced himself to watch the post-season, regardless of how frustrating it was. "I had to, just to understand and see how it was," he said. "Youre playing the same team possibly seven times in a row. Seeing the different schemes. Just trying to get a knowledge of how its played every single day." He said hes particularly thrilled to be sharing this seasons success with Johnson, who last made the playoffs with Detroit in 2009. "Thats my dog, man. Its definitely cool," DeRozan said. "I knew Amir, and Amir knew me when I was running around with the same pair of dirty shoes on, playing basketball. Amir is a helluva dude, how hard he works, and how good of a person he is." Johnson was key Wednesday night in containing Detroits frontcourt -- what Casey had predicted would be a "huge test" for Toronto. The Pistons lead the league in points in the paint and offensive rebounds, thanks largely to Drummond. The Raptors were effective inside, outrebounding Detroit 54-39 and outscoring their visitors in the paint 44-38. Casey wasnt thrilled with the second unit, saying it was "playing in mud a little bit." "We needed to keep the pace going, I thought the pace slowed down," he said. "For whatever reason we got stagnant and lost a couple of leads and thats something we have to work on." The Raptors raced out to a nine-point lead four minutes into the game, stretching it to 14 on a pullup jumper by John Salmons before ending the first quarter up 29-21. The Raptors went almost five minutes without a point to open the second, and Bynum drained a three with 8:37 left in the half to tie the game 29-29. The Raptors managed to cobble together another 10-point lead and took a 52-45 advantage into the dressing room at halftime. A three-pointer by Lowry stretched Torontos lead to 18 points just four-and-a-half minutes into the third but the Raptors couldnt maintain it. The Pistons ended the quarter on a 14-2 run to send the game into the fourth with Toronto leading 74-69. NOTES: Patrick Patterson missed his third straight game with an elbow injury. . . The game was the first of three straight at home. The Raptors host the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday and the Phoenix Suns on Sunday before playing a pair on the road at Atlanta and New Orleans. . . HOUSTON - After the Houston Texans came up just short of making the playoffs on Sunday, J. Derrick Henry Jersey .J. Watt had just one regret.I want to win more games, he said. We couldve won more games.Watt had three sacks, a safety and forced a fumble Sunday to strengthen his case for MVP and help the Texans to a 23-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Texans (9-7) had a shot at making the playoffs, but Baltimore beat Cleveland 20-10 to claim the final AFC wild-card spot.Youre excited about the win and everything that happened and youre hoping, Watt said. But thats what happens when you leave it in somebody elses hands.Andre Johnson helped out in the win with a season-high 134 yards receiving and a touchdown for Houston which made a seven-game improvement over last seasons 2-14 record under first-year coach Bill OBrien.Johnson gave Houston a 21-17 lead with an 8-yard reception early in the fourth. Watt made it 23-17 when he sacked Blake Bortles in the end zone for a safety a few minutes later. The sack gave him 20 1/2 this season, making him the first player in NFL history to have two seasons with 20 or more sacks after he also had 20 1/2 when he won Defensive Player of the Year 2012.The Jaguars (3-13) had a chance to take the lead late, but Cecil Shorts III was out of bounds on a catch on fourth down.Bortles threw for 117 yards as he struggled to move the offence for most of the day under near-constant pressure from Watt and company.Watt danced happily to the song Turn Down For What after returning to the sideline after his safety. The defensive end, who has scored five touchdowns this season, smiled as the sellout crowd chanted MVP, MVP.Watt is looking to become the first defensive player to win NFL Most Valuable Player since Lawrence Taylor did it in 1986. The winner will be announced by The Associated Press on Jan. 31.Five things to know about the regular-season finale between the Jaguars and Texans.A CASE FOR CASE: Case Keenum threw for 250 yards with two touchdowns and an interception to win his second game since rejoining the Texans after being released in training camp. Keenum was signed from the St. Louis practice squad two weeks ago after Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Tom Savage were injured with Ryan Mallett already out for the season.Hes a good guy, a fun guy to coach, OBrien said. I cant say enough about the job that he did and I cant say enough about the guys around him and the way they rallied around him over the last couple of weeks.GROWING PAINS: Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley was impressed by the work ethic and attitude of Bortles this season. But the Jaguars are certainly looking for improvement next season from the third overall pick in this years draft after he finished the season with 11 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. This guys exactly what were looking for and well get to work with him in the off-season that well get (things) accomplished, Bradley said. That spirit and that fearlessness and competitiveness that he has is exactly what we hoped.JOHNSONS BIG DAY: Johnsons had 10 receptions on Sunday to give him 85 catches for 936 yards this season. He is the 11th player in NFL history to have 80 or more catches in at least seven seasons. Sunday was his 51st career game with 100 yards receiving, which is the most among active players and tied for Terrell Owens for fourth-most in NFL history. Johnson said hell probably appreciate his place in NFL history more when he retires.I dont really get a chance to sit down and look at it and just go over everything, Johnson said. I think thats when youre really able to realize what you were able to accomplish as a player.MARKS INJURED: Jacksonville defensive tackle SenDerrick Marks injured his knee on a touchdown by Houstons Alfred Blue that made it 14-10 in the second quarter. Marks was on crutches after the game and Bradley said hed have an MRI on Monday.TOUGH STRETCH: The Jaguars have not had a winning season since going 11-5 in 2007. They won eight games in 2010, but havent won more than five since then. Dwayne Gratz, who had an interception return for a touchdown on Sunday, said the Jaguars have to find a way to improve next year.It is time, he said. We need to stay on top of it and make sure it doesnt go this way next year. I think well get on top of it and hold each other accountable next season.___Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Eric Weems Jersey. - The Oakland Athletics say they are stopping negotiations to extend their lease at the Coliseum. Avery Williamson Jersey . Rockies manager Walt Weiss was unhappy, too. Weiss addressed the issue in a 15-minute meeting with his pitcher and catcher after the Rockies gave up 14 hits and lost 10-1. De La Rosa lasted only 4 1-3 innings and allowed five runs in his first opening-day start. NEW YORK -- The Anaheim Ducks took nothing for granted on the last day of their longest road trip of the season. They didnt sit back and put the New York Rangers into an early hole they never got out of. Frederik Andersen made 32 saves to stay perfect in four NHL games, and Corey Perry and Kyle Palmieri scored first-period goals to lead the Ducks to a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday night. "To play in Madison Square Garden is something special. I love New York," Andersen said. "There are so many great things to do here, and I guess another one is to win a hockey game." The Ducks finished a season-high, eight-game road trip 5-2-1 -- including 5-0-1 in the final six games. Perry and Palmieri staked Anaheim to a 2-0 lead just 9:09 in, and the 24-year-old Andersen did the rest. "He was huge, kept us in it all night," Palmieri said. "We were able to get those two goals, and he made it stand up. Hes been awesome. Tonight was no different." In four NHL games, all this season, Andersen is 4-0. He has allowed a total of five goals, and only defenceman Michael Del Zotto got a puck past him. "We dug deep for this one," Perry said. "Last one on a road trip is always the toughest one, and we earned it. Were ready to get home." Ryan McDonagh pressed for the tying goal with 6:00 remaining in the game, and was twice denied on hard shots. Benoit Pouliot then had an in-close backhander stopped with 5:17 left, but drew a penalty. The Rangers received their third power play with 3:26 remaining, but that advantage was cut short when Pouliot took New Yorks first penalty of the game. Another came moments later for too many men on the ice. That killed any chance of a comeback. "Sometimes goalies have to come through," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We started playing like we didnt want to lose instead of going after them, which I think we did for most of the third period. Thats when you need your goalie to come up big." Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 shots for the Rangers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 2-1 on a homestand that ends Wednesday against Pittsburgh. "It was definitely not the way we wanted to start off this game," Lundqvist said. "They showed why they are a good team. They make yoou pay when things like that happen early. Taylor Lewan Jersey. "We couldve easily had at least a point today." Andersen preserved his shutout -- albeit briefly -- when he made a stellar save of a hard one-timer from the slot by Brad Richards with 1:44 remaining in the second after Richards took a feed from behind the net from Carl Hagelin. The Rangers kept the heat on the Ducks, who were forced to ice the puck. New York regained control on the ensuing faceoff and cut the deficit to 2-1 with 1:24 left. Rangers captain Ryan Callahan put the puck on net, and Hagelin whacked at the rebound. With Andersen sprawled on his stomach, Del Zotto scored his first of the season from the lower edge of the circle. That sparked the crowd, and the fans were still cheering when McDonagh twice knocked Perry over the short boards and into the New York bench. McDonagh kept him doubled over the second time, and Rangers coach Alain Vigneault kept an arm around Derek Dorsett to prevent him from taking any shots at Perry as the period ended. In the first, the Ducks picked up where they left off against the Rangers when they sent New York to a 6-0 drubbing on Oct. 10 at Anaheim. "They are a good team and they showed why they are in the high echelons of the NHL," Vigneault said. "They dont give you a lot. "I dont look at it as we lost (6-0) and then we found a way to lose 2-1 tonight. We needed to be better in certain areas." Anaheim grabbed the lead 1:29 in when Perry scored his ninth. Dustin Penner sent a shot in that was stopped by Lundqvist, but no one picked up Perry in front, and he scored with his second whack at the rebound. The Ducks doubled their lead 6:40 later with help from the Rangers. Richards cleared the puck out, but he put it right on the stick of Francois Beauchemin in the neutral zone. Beauchemin skated the puck back in and found Palmieri in the high slot for a shot that beat Lundqvist. "This is a game of mistakes and making your opponent pay when they make mistakes," Vigneault said. NOTES: Ducks D Luca Sbisa made his season debut after being out with a lower body injury and assisted on Perrys goal. ... Callahan returned from a seven-game absence caused by a broken left thumb. ... Andersen entered with a 1.50 goals-against average and .944 save percentage. China NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys 2020 Cheap NFL Jerseys Discount NFL Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Discount NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo ' ' '
